I like the ability in Skype to right click and edit a previously posted message. While this is available via the s/foo/bar/ method, this in itself seems to have a time limit and can also only be done to the most recently posted message. It's frustrating seeing something misspelt or mis'spoken' and not being able to change it.

Typing notification is borked. It doesn't always show when someone is typing, especially during long messages. This problem is most noticeable when someone is typing, then I send a message. Their typing notification goes away even though they are still typing.

A much beloved website, but HipChat does not make this link clickable despite being a valid URI.

I like the ability in Skype to be able to quote a previous message somebody wrote, as part of your response. This can be done by right clicking the previous message and choosing "Quote message". Could something similar be added to HipChat? It would make it useful to refer to specific comments for your own reply.

The old version used to support @ mentions and autocomplete for guests' names (@FirstnameLastname)

Most of the files we upload are images in the form of design mocks, videos, and funny pictures. Most everyone doesn't give them a good filename. A gallery view would really help.

We have a global development team with much of the corporate offices in the US speaking English and much of the developers speaking Spanish (and a few other developers speaking other languages).

While the official language of the company is english, often times there are words that they don't understand or the sentence complexity is hard to understand. It would be awesome if they could easily click to translate a chat message using google translate (or any other service).

When HipChat has focus many keyboard shortcuts are blocked.

I have a keyboard shortcut setup to start a custom service that simply starts my screensaver. If HipChat has focus, the keyboard shortcut is blocked and the service does not start.

Running regexes over a previously typed line to replace a character with nothing doesn't work.

For example if the line contained thanksj and I try to run s/j// the j would remain where as if I run s/sj/j it would work.

Hipchat should allow for empty replaces in it's regex implementation.

Chat history between two users is disappearing. It remains while we're talking, but if I close HipChat the chat history is blank.

There are some rooms that are very important to me, so I'd like to be notified of any messages in them.
Other rooms are not as important, so I don't want them to show Growl notifications or bounce the dock icon.

Since 0.32 version of Beta Mac Client, we're seeing an issue where the chat history in a room all of a sudden disappears. Initially when this happened it felt like an administrator had cleared all chat history. However it seems to be a glitch. Leaving the room and coming back recovers the history.

This is happening to everyone in our group.

We should be able to edit the profile in the app.

Have a reply button so you can directly reply to something someone said, even if it is 15 lines above the current listing of stuff. That way if you miss something, you can reply to it still. That reply should also go under the original words, but indented.

I don't need to be notified of spelling corrections :)

Often it is necessary to quote a sentence from somebody. To reference on something said.

We have both private chat rooms and publicly accessible guest-enabled chat rooms. It would be awesome to be able to indicate in some what that those rooms are publicly accessible.

When the message text input has focus, and I press "Tab", the focus changes, (in rooms it focuses the people area in a 1-on-1 I don't know where it goes...) however there's no good indication of where you are and you can't shift-tab back into the message text input area.
