Room history

If you are an admin, you can delete any messages or files sent to any room. If you are not an admin, you will be able to either 1) only delete messages and files that you shared or 2) not delete chat history at all. This depends on whether your group administrator has set the preference to limit history deletion to admins-only (see https://hipchat.hipchat.com/admin/features).

To delete chat history:

1. Go to https://www.hipchat.com/history
2. Search for the message you want to delete or click the room you want to remove history from
3. Hover over the message you want to delete and click the X that pops up on the left
4. Click "OK" on the confirmation dialog

1-to-1 history

1. Go to https://www.hipchat.com/history and scroll down to the Group Members section
2. Choose the person that you had the conversation with
3. Search for the message or go to the date it was said
4. Hover over the message you want to delete and click the X that pops up on the left
5. Click "OK" on the confirmation dialog

What happens to the text and files I delete?

They're deleted permanently and can not be restored, so please use caution.
